Living as a Witness for Christ
"One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, 'There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?' Jesus said, 'Have the people sit down.' ... Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated." — John 6:8-11 (ESV)
God didn’t save us just to bring us to Heaven—He left us on Earth with a purpose: to be witnesses of His love and truth. Our lives are meant to reflect His grace, pointing others to Him.
Andrew, one of Jesus’ disciples, didn’t seek the spotlight, but his quiet obedience had a lasting impact. He brought his brother Peter to Jesus, and Peter became a key leader in the early Church. Like Andrew, we may think our small efforts don’t matter, but God uses even the smallest acts of faithfulness to advance His Kingdom.
The story of the boy with five loaves and two fish (John 6:8-13) shows how God multiplies what we offer. The boy had little, but he gave it all, and Jesus turned it into a meal for thousands. In the same way, when we give God what we have—our time, words, and actions—He blesses it and uses it beyond what we can imagine.
Sometimes, we hesitate to share our faith, fearing rejection or insignificance. But Psalm 115:16 reminds us, “The heavens are the Lord’s heavens, but the earth he has given to the children of man.” We are here to share the good news, not just for ourselves but for others.
Jesus said in John 12:24 that a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die to produce fruit. When we let go of our fears and step out in faith, we become witnesses who bring others closer to Christ. Your simple invitation, encouragement, or testimony can lead to someone’s transformation.
Are you actively sharing Christ? When was the last time you invited someone to church or shared your faith? Every action, no matter how small, can have an eternal impact.
Reflection:
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for calling me to be a witness for You. Help me to step out in faith, sharing Your love with those around me. Remind me that no act of service is too small in Your hands. Give me the courage to invite others to experience Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
