How God Sees Our Giving

Equip Night Recap: How God Sees Our Giving

Last week’s Equip Night focused on a powerful and often overlooked truth: God sees our giving differently than the world does. In our study titled “How God Sees Our Giving,” we were reminded that true generosity is not about the amount given, but the heart posture, faith, and sacrifice behind it.

In Mark 12:41–44, Jesus draws attention to a poor widow who gave two small coins—far less than anyone else. Yet, He commended her over the wealthy donors because she gave all she had. Her gift, though small in value, was overflowing in trust.

“She out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”Mark 12:44

What Moves God’s Heart

God doesn’t evaluate our giving by totals—He evaluates it by trust, dependence, and faith. The widow’s offering moved Jesus because it was 100% surrender.

From the Old Testament tithe to the generosity of the early church, Scripture shows that giving has always been more than a religious obligation—it’s an act of worship and surrender.

Giving in Scripture is:

  • A token of trust in God’s provision (Numbers 18:21–24)
  • A tool for justice, used to care for the poor and vulnerable (Deuteronomy 14:28–29)
  • A spiritual discipline that frees our hearts from greed and reorients them toward God

When Israel neglected giving, the nation didn’t just suffer financially—they experienced spiritual and social decline (Nehemiah 13, Malachi 3, Haggai 1).

Living Generously Today

God still calls His people to give from a place of faith, not convenience. Giving isn't just about funding ministry—it's about forming hearts that trust God over possessions.

Here are ways we can apply this teaching in our everyday lives:

Application:

  • Start with consistency – Let 10% be a regular, faith-building rhythm
  • Go beyond the tithe – Give sacrificially and cheerfully as the Holy Spirit leads
  • Support the mission – Your giving fuels pastors, outreach, and kingdom work
  • Invest in eternity – Generosity changes lives, meets needs, and advances the Gospel

“They were selling their possessions and distributing to all, as any had need.” Acts 2:45

Final Thoughts

God sees what others overlook. He values the heart, the sacrifice, and the trust behind every gift. Our giving isn’t about checking a box—it’s about worship, partnership, and purpose.

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21

Let your giving reflect your trust in God. Let it tell the story of someone who believes that everything comes from Him and is for Him.

Next Steps

Let’s grow in trust. Let’s give with purpose. Let’s reflect God's heart in our generosity—together.
