Embracing Righteousness: A Journey with Nicodemus
On Sunday, we kicked off an enlightening new series focused on how to live in God’s righteousness. This series serves as a powerful reminder of the principles we aspire to embody as we walk our journey with Jesus.
Our exploration began with the compelling story of Nicodemus, a man famously known for his nighttime encounters with Jesus.
In John 3:4, we see Nicodemus grappling with confusion when Jesus speaks of being "born again." His bewildered response, "How can a man be born when he is old?" echoes a common struggle we all face in understanding spiritual truths.
We learned that while every person is born of flesh, a transformative spiritual birth is essential for entry into the Kingdom of God. This concept is a pivotal part of our faith journey and reminds us of a previous teaching on "The Basic Realities of the New Creation," which we explored during our Tuesday Bible Study on Zoom.
The key takeaway from that session was profound: when we embrace Christ’s message and believe in His death and resurrection, we are born again. In that moment, a brand-new, unprecedented being comes into existence—one filled with hope and purpose.
How can we experience this new birth?
John 3:5 beautifully articulates that we must be "born of water and the Spirit." This new birth ushers in a life where the old has passed away, replaced by a vibrant existence characterized by growth and prosperity.
In the sermon, Fidelis also highlighted two essential types of righteousness: Righteousness by Works vs. Righteousness by Faith. We will dive deeper into these distinctions in future teachings, unraveling their significance in our daily lives.
For those seeking more in-depth insights from the first New Creation teaching, I encourage you to explore the slides here. To revisit the sermon on "The Man in the Night," you can find it here.
Let’s continue this journey together, embracing the transformative power of living in God’s righteousness!
