Walking in Purpose

Walking in Purpose

"And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'" — Mark 11:9 (ESV)

Jesus' entry into Jerusalem was a defining moment. Riding on a colt, He fulfilled Zechariah 9:9, which prophesied a humble king bringing salvation. Unlike the military ruler the crowds expected, Jesus came as the Servant King, focused not on political power but on redemption. His mission was not shaped by human expectations but by obedience to the Father.

Jesus understood His purpose, even when it led to suffering. In Matthew 16:21-23, when Peter rebuked Him for speaking about His death, Jesus responded, "Get behind me, Satan!" He refused to be swayed by fear or misunderstanding. Likewise, we are called to stay focused on God's plan, even when faced with opposition or confusion.

Too often, we look for validation from others, seeking approval from the world. But Jesus’ journey reminds us that true fulfillment comes from aligning our hearts with God’s will. The same crowd that welcomed Him with "Hosanna" would later turn against Him. Yet, Jesus remained steadfast, knowing His purpose was not about earthly recognition but eternal salvation.

We, too, must walk in clarity of purpose. When we trust God’s plan, we stop striving for worldly approval. Instead, we confidently step into the work He has prepared for us. Just as Jesus’ path was intentional, so is ours. He equips us with everything we need to fulfill His calling.

Though the road may not always be easy, we can take comfort in knowing that God's plans are always unfolding for His glory. Jesus’ obedience led to salvation for all who believe. Our obedience, no matter how small, plays a part in His greater purpose.

Reflection:

  • Are you seeking approval from the world instead of God?
  • How can you walk confidently in the purpose God has set before you?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the example of Jesus, who remained faithful to His purpose despite opposition. Help me to walk confidently in the calling You have placed on my life. Teach me to trust Your plan, even when I don’t understand it. May I live with boldness, knowing You have equipped me for every good work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
