Dare to Ask

Dare to Ask

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" — Matthew 7:7 (ESV)

It’s natural to limit our requests based on fear, doubt, or what seems possible within our
current circumstances. We often pray with small expectations, thinking that asking for too
much might be presumptuous. Yet in Matthew 7:7, Jesus invites us to ask boldly, seek with
perseverance, and knock confidently, knowing that God is eager to give good things to
those who ask in faith. Our Heavenly Father is generous, and His desire is to bless us
abundantly, beyond what we can imagine.

Jesus reminds us that we should never limit ourselves when it comes to prayer. While we
might hesitate to ask for what seems impossible, we need to remember that God is not
constrained by our circumstances. Our prayers should reflect the vastness of His ability and
the fullness of His promises. In Ephesians 3:20, we are told that God is able to do far more
abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
according to the power that works within us”
— Ephesians 3:20 (ESV). This means that
God’s vision for our lives is far greater than we can conceive, and He is always able to bless
us more than we can dream.

The power of asking is not just about the request itself, but about positioning our hearts to
believe in God’s limitless provision. When we pray, we are entering into a relationship with
God, actively engaging with His promises and trusting that He will fulfill them. James 1:5-8
encourages us to ask for wisdom or anything we need, but to do so without doubting.
Doubt can prevent us from receiving all that God has for us. We must approach God with
faith, knowing that He is generous and will give according to His will. When we ask with
confidence, it opens the door to God’s abundant blessings.

In John 16:24, Jesus urges us to ask in His name, with the assurance that we will receive,
and our joy will be complete. God wants us to approach Him with the confidence that He is
not only capable of answering our prayers but that He is delighted to do so. Asking with
faith doesn’t mean we get everything we want in the way we expect, but it does mean that
we trust God’s goodness and sovereignty to provide what is best for us.

Think about your desires and dreams. Are there areas in your life where you’ve been
hesitant to ask God for what you truly need or want? God is not limited by what we see or
think is possible. Take a moment to imagine the possibilities of your life when you ask with
faith, trusting that God can do far more than you can think or imagine.

As you approach God in prayer, ask Him to increase your faith. Ask boldly, knowing that He
is eager to give good gifts to His children. Trust that He is capable of fulfilling your needs
and dreams in ways that exceed your expectations.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder to ask boldly, without fear or limitation. Help
me to trust that You can do far more than I can imagine. Increase my faith and give me the
courage to ask with confidence, knowing that You delight in blessing Your children. In
Jesus' name, Amen.
