Step Out and Trust God With the Next Move
Scripture
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
Hebrews 11:8 (ESV)
Reflection
Faith does not always come with a detailed map. Often, it comes with a call to move before everything makes sense.
Abraham’s obedience was not rooted in certainty, but in trust. God did not show him the full picture. He did not explain the destination, the timeline, or the challenges ahead. He simply called him to go. And Scripture says Abraham went out, not knowing where he was going.
This is how faith often works. God speaks. God prompts. God stirs something in our hearts. Yet our minds want clarity before commitment. We want guarantees before obedience. But faith is not waiting until all fear disappears. Faith is choosing to move while trusting God with the outcome.
In the sermon, we were reminded that God is bringing movement where there has been stagnation. But movement requires response. It requires obedience. It requires stepping forward even when fear, doubt, or insecurity tries to hold us back.
Many people feel stuck not because God has stopped speaking, but because fear has stopped them from moving. Fear of failure. Fear of loss. Fear of the unknown. Yet the same God who called Abraham to move is the God who promised to walk with him.
Faith is not passive. It is active trust. It is saying yes to God even when the next step feels uncomfortable. It is choosing obedience over control.
God does not always remove uncertainty before He calls us to move. Instead, He promises His presence in the movement. The safety is not in knowing where you are going. The safety is in knowing who is leading you.

Prayer
Father, I thank You that You lead me, even when I do not see the full path ahead. Help me to trust You like Abraham did. Give me the courage to obey when You call me to move. I choose faith over fear and obedience over control. As I step forward, I trust that You are with me and that You will establish my steps. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Questions
- Where do I sense God calling me to take a step of faith right now?
- What fears or uncertainties have been holding me back from moving forward?
- What would obedience look like for me in this season, even without full clarity?
