The Power of a Small Yes
Scripture:
"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here I am! Send me.'"
— Isaiah 6:8 (ESV)
Reflection:
Most people wait for a defining moment before giving God their wholehearted "yes." We imagine that obedience begins with a life-changing assignment or a dramatic calling. Yet Scripture shows us something different. God's greatest works often begin with simple acts of faithfulness.
A conversation.
A prayer.
A decision to show up.
A willingness to forgive.
A commitment to serve.
A quiet act of generosity.
These small yeses become the building blocks of a life that honours Christ.
The kingdom of God advances one surrendered heart at a time. We sometimes underestimate the eternal significance of ordinary obedience. We do not realize how many lives may be changed because we chose to speak about Jesus to a colleague, pray for a neighbour, encourage a struggling believer or faithfully serve in God's house. Heaven sees what the world often overlooks.
Many believers long for "more" from God while resisting the very opportunities He places in front of them. We pray for greater influence but ignore today's invitation to be faithful. We ask for larger assignments while neglecting the simple acts of obedience already within our reach.
God rarely asks us to leap ten steps ahead. More often, He asks us to take the next one.
The beautiful truth is that every genuine yes creates room for another. Obedience enlarges our capacity to carry more of God's purposes. As we faithfully steward today's opportunities, He entrusts us with tomorrow's.
Your future is not built on one spectacular decision. It is shaped by a lifetime of quiet, consistent yeses to Jesus.

Lord, I surrender my plans to You. Help me not to overlook the small opportunities You place before me each day. Give me the courage to obey quickly, trust You fully and walk faithfully in every assignment You give me. May my life become a continual yes to Your will and Your ways. In Jesus' name, Amen.
