Faith Takes Action — What Will You Do With What You’ve Heard?

Faith Takes Action — What Will You Do With What You’ve Heard?

Scripture:

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."
James 1:22 (NIV)

Reflection:

Over the past season at Mountain Springs Church, we've heard a lot about faith. We've been reminded that faith is not about what we see but about trusting what God has spoken. We've been taught to speak faith, resist fear, and hold tightly to God's promises.

Now comes the challenge. What are you going to do with all you’ve heard?

Faith that only lives in a notebook but never shows up in our lives is not faith at all. In Acts 1:1, Luke writes that Jesus began to do and to teach. The doing came first. Jesus modeled what it looks like to live a life of revelation followed by obedience.

In Scripture, every time there was a move of God, it started with someone taking action. Noah built. Abraham moved. Peter stepped out. The servants at the wedding in Cana filled the jars because Mary said, "Whatever He tells you, do it" (John 2:5). Action made the miracle possible.

So what will your response be?

Give

Generosity is an act of faith. The widow of Zarephath gave Elijah her last meal, and God sustained her through famine. Giving breaks fear and makes room for God's provision.

Serve

Sign up. Show up. Step in. Pray for someone. Help with setup. Offer a ride. Serving makes faith visible.

Start

Is God nudging you to reach out to that neighbor or colleague? Is it time to finally launch that business idea, begin a not-for-profit, or act on the creative plan He put in your heart? Take the first step. Don’t overthink it. Obedience activates heaven’s help.

Speak

Use your words to align with heaven. Declare what God says about your situation, your church, your family. Speak life, not lack. Speak victory, not fear.

Faith is more than belief. It’s motion. Don’t let what you’ve received stay dormant. Let it move through you. When you act on the Word, your life becomes a landing strip for God's power.

Reflection Questions:

  • What step of obedience is God asking me to take in this season?
  • Where have I been hearing but not doing?
  • How can I express faith today through giving, serving, starting, or speaking?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for all You’ve spoken to me this season. I don't want to just collect revelation. I want to walk in it. Help me to act on Your Word with boldness. Give me courage to give, strength to serve, and wisdom to reach out. Let my life reflect the faith You’ve deposited in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
