Mercy and Grace in the Year of Movement
Scripture:
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)
Reflection
For many people, 2025 has been a challenging year. Progress felt slow, doors seemed closed, and areas that once moved freely felt stuck. Yet as we look ahead to 2026, we believe God is ushering in a season of movement and divine acceleration. What could not be shifted by effort alone is being touched by His grace. This is not a call to strive harder, but an invitation to lean deeper.
Hebrews reminds us to draw near to the throne of grace continually. The Greek expression for “draw near” carries the sense of keep coming, again and again, without hesitation or fear. God is not inviting us to visit occasionally. He is inviting us to live there.
At that throne, two things are promised. First, mercy. Mercy means we do not receive the punishment we deserve. It is God withholding judgment and meeting us with compassion. Second, grace. Grace is the favor and divine enablement we do not deserve, given freely to help us move forward.
The phrase “time of need” uses the Greek word eukairos. It speaks of the right and appointed moment, the strategic season when help is needed to step into what God is doing next. Grace meets us precisely there.
True movement in God does not begin with striving harder. It begins with leaning deeper. When we come continually to the throne of grace, we exchange self-effort for divine enablement. Mercy steadies us. Grace empowers us. From that place, God produces the acceleration we could never manufacture on our own.
This is how God moves His people forward. Not by pressure, but by presence. Not by flesh, but by grace.
Reflection Questions
1. Where have I felt stuck or strained in 2025, and how have I tried to push forward in my own strength?
2. What might God be inviting me to release as this season closes, so I can rely more fully on His mercy and grace?
3. As I look ahead to a new season, where do I sense God calling me to keep coming to His throne and trust His timing for movement?
Prayer
Father, thank You for inviting us to Your throne of grace. Thank You for mercy that covers us and grace that empowers us. Teach us to keep coming to You, especially in moments when we feel weary or stuck. We choose to lean on Your grace and trust You for the movement You desire to bring in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Year-End Declaration
As a church family, we thank God for His faithfulness through every challenge of this past year. We release every burden, every place of striving, and every area where we have tried to move ahead in our own strength. We declare that we are a people who keep coming to the throne of grace. We receive mercy for what is behind us and grace for what lies ahead. As we step into 2026, we enter a new season of movement, not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord. We trust God for divine acceleration, renewed strength, and fulfilled purpose in our lives and in our church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
