Make the Decision — Cut Off the Options
Scripture:
“How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”
— 1 Kings 18:21 (NIV)
Reflection:
Indecision quietly robs us of clarity, growth, and peace. Israel’s inability to choose left them stuck, unable to experience the fullness of God’s promises. Elijah’s bold question still confronts us today: How long will you waver? You can’t walk with God and keep your options open for alternatives.
The word “decision” comes from the Latin decidere, meaning “to cut off.” True decision-making is not simply about choosing something. It’s about cutting off competing options, distractions, and double-mindedness. With God, there is no grey area. You are either in or out.
James 1:8 warns, “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Until we make a clear choice, our lives remain unsettled — spiritually, emotionally, even practically. Wavering between obedience and comfort, between faith and fear, will keep us from moving forward.
What keeps you from making a clear decision? Fear? The need for approval? The lure of comfort? The fear of missing out? Until you draw a line, you will waver — and wavering robs you of progress.
But here’s the hope: when you decide to follow God wholeheartedly, He meets that choice with grace. Divine help shows up when human hesitation ends. Heaven responds to courage.
Reflection Questions:
Prayer:
Lord, I confess where I’ve been double-minded and stuck. Help me make bold, clear decisions that honor You. I choose today to cut off distractions, doubts, and fears. I choose to follow You wholeheartedly. Lead me in Your path, and give me the courage to stand firm in that choice. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection Questions:
- Where have I been hesitating to fully commit — in my faith, relationships, or calling?
- What distractions or fears do I need to “cut off” so I can move forward?
- How would my life look different if I made a bold, clear decision today?
